HomeWorks Energy is looking for a Heating and Cooling Installation Apprentice who wants stability, variety and an opportunity to learn in the field. In this position, you will be part of an installation team focusing in on Furnace, Boilers and A/C solutions. Primary Responsibilities and areas of learning:

  • Installation of high-efficiency heating and cooling equipment, Boilers, Furnaces, Central Air and Ductless Mini-Splits along with Domestic Hot Water
  • On the job and Classroom training availability
  • Routine Preventative Maintenance, Servicing System Cleaning and ability to deal with High CO, failed Draft and Spillage issues
  • Working with an installation team and assisting as needed
  • Reviewing specifications for new installation jobs with heating and cooling equipment
  • Ability to handle paperwork and online closure of service calls
  • Obtain/maintain required certifications
  • Test electrical safety circuits or components for continuity, using electrical test equipment
  • Record as well as report all faults, deficiencies, and other unusual occurrences, as well as the time and materials expended to complete work orders
  • Test pipe or tubing joints or connections for leaks, using pressure gauge or soap and water solution
  • Recommend, develop, or perform preventive/general maintenance procedures, like cleaning, power washing, vacuuming equipment, oiling parts and changing filters
  • Adjust system controls, install auxiliary components to heating and cooling equipment, as well as connect all electrical components
  • Install and adjust thermostats
  • Join pipes or tubing to equipment for fuel, water or refrigerant source to form complete circuit or heating loops
  • Assemble, position, and mount heating or cooling equipment following diagrams
  • Ability to read wiring diagrams, or specifications, as well as manufacturers recommendations to ascertain the configuration of heating or cooling equipment components
  • Cut or drill holes in floor/walls for installation of equipment. Measure, cut, thread, or bend pipe or tubing, using pipe fitter’s tools
  • Fabricate, assemble or install ductwork or chassis parts

Requirements:

  • Formal training and certification from an HVAC Training program
  • Driver’s license
  • Reliable vehicle
  • Refrigerant/EPA license
